The high school students of Surrey have spoken. They have selected Holly Jackson’s a good girl’s guide to murder as the winner for Surrey Teens Read in 2022.

Thanks to all the students who voted, all the students who read the books, and to all the Teacher Librarians who make Surrey Teens Read happen.

Firekeeper’s Daughter, the 2022 Printz Award Winner for Excellence in Young Adult Literature is just one of the many books you can see in our Award Winning Books display. Printz Honor books Concrete Rose, Star Fish and Last Night at the Telegraph Club are also there, along with many other recent literary award winners. Stop by your School Library to have a look.

Alex Awards are given by the ALA to 10 best adult books that appeal to teen audiences. At the YALSA Awards earlier this week, Alex Awards went to:

Printz Award goes to March: Book Three

The prestigious YALSA Awards were handed out this week.  The biggest prize of note for high school libraries is the Printz Award, for excellence in literature written for young adults.  The 2017 Printz Award has been awarded to March: Book Three by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell.

Printz Honor prizes were awarded to:

  • Asking for It by Louise O’Neill
  • The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry
  • Scythe by Neal Shusterman
  • The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
