Hours of Operation:
7:45 AM to 3:45 PM   (Hours may vary due to supervision availability)

Loan Periods:

  • Regular fiction/non-fiction: 3 weeks
  • Periodicals: 1 week
  • Graphic novels: 1 week
  • Audio-Visual: 1 week

Borrowing Requirements:
Students require a valid Lord Tweedsmuir student identification card (go card).  Students may borrow up to 3 items at a time. Students may renew any item unless it has a hold request.   Students with overdue materials or outstanding debts will not be allowed to borrow school library materials until overdue are returned and/or debts are cleared.

Library Bookings:
To book, the class area, the film area, the small group area or the full school library for your class or event, contact Mr. Sexton directly by email, phone or in person.

Drop In Students:
With teacher permission, students may visit the library on a drop-in basis. Students are required to ask teachers to fill out a permission slip which outlines what the students will be working on and when they are expected back to class.  Drop-in students are asked to respect the need for quiet/silence when classes or other events are being conducted in the school library. Students are reminded that the school library (or certain areas, such as the computers) may be unavailable due to class bookings or other events.

Study Block Students:
Students on a study block are welcome to use the library for homework, research, silent reading or study. Study block students are asked to respect the need for quiet/silence when classes or other events are being conducted in the school library. Library Team:
The school library has a team of dedicated staff and students who are here to serve you, helping to meet your educational research and recreational reading needs. The team includes the Teacher-Librarian,  Supervisory Aide, Library Science 11 students and Volunteer Monitors. For more info, click here.

Library Science 10,11,12:
This course is offered to students in Grades 10-12. Library Science provides students with an introduction to the basics of library procedures such as circulation, shelving and maintenance of the collection. Students also provide assistance to other students and staff with research, catalogue searches and more. Students gain valuable experience that can be applied in many future educational and career paths. Prior to enrolling in the course students are required to consult with both Mr. Sexton and the counsellor.

Volunteers:
Students volunteer as school library monitors before school, at lunch and after school. Volunteer hours can be applied to service hour requirements or service awards. Volunteers gain valuable experience and get to be a part of a fun and dedicated team of people. Click here for more information.
