The Islamic month of Ramadan has begun. Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer and other acts for devotion for Muslims. Ramadan Kareem!
In 2022 Ramadan began on April 1st and will end on May 1st. Like many other religious and cultural calendars, the Islamic year is based on a lunar calendar and that is way dates vary from year to year on the Gregorian (solar) Calander.
We wish Ramadan Mubarak and Ramadan Kareem to the more than one million Canadians who follow Islam, and to our Muslim neighbours around the world.
As of today, 4/1/2022, all students and staff at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, and throughout the district, are required by law to show proof of 5 doses of the Credulus Vaccine.
All 5 doses are injected simultaneously, with 1 directly into the eyeball, 1 underneath the thumbnail, 1 into your arm, 1 into the body part of your choice, and finally, 1 directly into the CENSORED.
Students or staff who fail to provide proof of vaccination will be prosecuted and could face up to 10 years in federal prison.
A few updates and reminders as we head into that wonderful time of year we call March Break!
March Madness
March Madness continues. The “Round of 32” gets underway March 11 and will conclude on March 27. The “Sweet 16” round will start on the day we return to school, March 28. Be sure to vote in each round. Every time you vote, your name goes into the draw for PRIZES! Stay up-to-date with everything that is happening with March Madness by checking back HERE over the break.
March Break Reading
Make sure that you have some good books to read over the Break. Come down to the School Library by the end of today to ensure that you can head into March Break with some good reading material. Staff are reminded that you can also peruse the March Break Library Cart that is making its way around the school.
Students and Staff are also reminded that for those that might not get the chance to come in person to the School Library today, over the March Break you can visit us online, and borrow one of our eBooks or other electronic resources. Find out more here.
St. Patrick’s Day
We will be away on March Break when St. Paddy’s day rolls around on March 17. Remember to wear green that day– and remember that we are celebrating St. Paddy’s Day ALL MONTH LONG in the School Library.
International Women’s Day
IWD was March 8, but just like St. Paddy’s Day, we can’t possibly limit the celebration to 24 hours, so we are also celebrating International Women’s Day ALL MONTH LONG!
Join us all month long, in person, and online, as we learn more about the ongoing struggle for freedom and equality for women in Canada, and around the world.
International Women’s Day is coming up soon, just a a few days away: Tuesday, March 8. We are celebrating all month long. Here are some books to help us learn more about the ongoing struggle for women’s rights in Canada and around the world.
St. Paddy’s Day is March 17th, but we are celebrating ALL MONTH in your School Library! Come down to check out our display of Irish & Ireland related titles, including both fiction and non-fiction.
Tell an adult that you trust, maybe your parents, a school counsellor or teacher. Often the best way to help is first to listen, and then to assist you in finding trained professionals to talk to.
